Bob Seaweed TippinsHi, I am Robert G. Tippins, (Bob) commonly known as SEAWEED around the world. I started Seaweed's as a way of helping the Veteran with the history of their ship, then added the photos and caps. I am retired from the United States Navy serving 20 years. I have been writing ships histories for the past 20 years, serving Veterans all around the world with their ships history and photo, and custom-making their caps... I would like to help you as well with your ship. Just let me know how I can help you with the history and photo of your ship.

We have your ships history, photo, caps of the ship that you served aboard. We have over 100,000 from Battleships to the Ships in commission today. We custom-make caps with the name of your ship, hull # and silhouette of your ship. You just need to let us know the name of your ship and how you want your shirt or jacket embroidery. We can do the rest.

We have been in business for the past 20 years serving Veterans throughout the United States with the history and photo of their ship. So give us a call and we will be glad to help you. Call and talk with Bob, the old sailor who will love to talk with you about your ship.

Americans always need to remember the great sacrifices made by veterans disabled in our armed forces. There are an estimated 3 million living American Veterans in the United States of America. Their venerable ranks include: 13 disabled U.S. veterans from the 1916 war on the Mexican border; 779 disabled U.S. Veterans from World War I; 798,000 disabled U.S. Veterans from the Korean War; 815,000 U.S. Veterans from the Vietnam War; 213,000 disabled U.S. Veterans from various conflicts. Remember our troops in harms way and their families.

We salute all Veterans for their heroism. Many have given their all for the freedom that we enjoy today. We support and pray for our troops that are in harms way today. May the United States of America be at Peace soon. Support our troops and hope that an end will come soon to the fighting in Iraq, so that our young men and women can come home soon to their families. God Bless Them.

USAT George Washington - She was a former German Liner. She was seized on April 6, 1917 by the US Government and turned into a troop ship. She carried over 100,000 troops to France. When WW II came along she once more became a troop ship. Her first mission was Casablanca. During the war she also served in the Pacific. In 1944 she returned to the Atlantic. She was removed from service January 16, 1951 at Baltimore, Maryland and while tied to a pier at Baltimore she was damaged by fire. The George Washington then was sold for scrap on February 13, 1951.

USCG Ingham WPG 35 was placed in commission on September 7, 1937 in the US Coast Guard. She was assigned to the US Navy in July 1941 and operated as a escort in the North Atlantic and to the Mediterranean in convoy duties late in 1944. In 1945 she was converted to a command ship for the Pacific. She operated in the Philippines Landings. Following the war she returned to Norfolk, Virginia. In 1965 she headed for Vietnam and served inspecting craft off the coast of Vietnam and supported ground forces, firing over 77,000 rounds of ammo. She returned to the east coast and was decommissioned April 27, 1988 and now is part of the museum at Patriots Point, Charleston, South Carolina.

The USS Ashland was the first of the class of Landing Ship Dock. The ship flooded her stern down in the water so landing craft could enter and discharge during the invasion. The USS Ashland was placed in commission June 5, 1943. Her first invasion was in the Gilbert Islands on November 18, 1943. She was placed out of commission three times, the last time was on November 22, 1969 and sold in May, 1970.

USS Bayfield APA 33 was placed in commission in the U.S. Coast Guard November 20, 1943, seen her first invasion at Normandy June 6, 1944 and then Iwo Jima in the Pacific February 19, 1945. She participated in Korea and Vietnam wars. She received eleven battle stars for her services and placed out of commission June 28, 1968 and sold for scrap September 15, 1969.

USS Coffman DE-191 was placed in commission December 27, 1943 and served in the Atlantic along with the USS Card CVE-11 escorting convoys and hunting German U boats, sinking U548 along the Virginia Coast on April 30, 1945. She was decommissioned April 30, 1946 she was sold for scrap August 17, 1973.

USS Essex CV-9 was placed in commission December 31, 1942. The Essex was the first of her class. The aircraft carrier took place of the battle ship in WWII. The carrier was the one who cleared the sky's of Japanese aircraft and helped to push the Japanese forces back to Japan and helped end the war. The Essex was decommissioned January 9, 1947. She returned to service for the Korean war on January 15, 1951 and pulled three tours in Korea. She moved to the east coast 1957 and remained in service until she was placed out of commission. USS Meredith DD-726 was placed in commission March 14, 1944 and was assigned to the Atlantic on June 6, 1944. During the landings at Normandy she struck a mine killing 7 men and towed to Anchorage. On June 9, 1944 she was sank by German bombers in Bay of the Seine. On August 5, 1960 she was sold and raised and cut up for scrap. Meredith earned one battle star for WWII service. Note the camouflage paint on her. This is for distraction for the subs, the ship blends in with the waves, making the sub harder to get a bearing on the ship before launching her torpedo.

USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN 71 - Underway with aircraft on board showing crew members spelling out "Big Stick". Teddy Roosevelt's saying "Walk softly and carry a big stick", the ships motto.
